Sack of potatoes?

Been looking everywhere for sacks of potatoes but none of the usual places have them this year - I know it was a bad year for root veg this year so maybe that's why.

Does anyone know where you can buy sacks of potatoes? I'm in Derby. I've tried looking up local farms on google but they only list fruit ones and if I put in 15kg sack of potatoes it comes up with dog food!!!

I don't know you area at all, sorry. But here in Cardiff, I buy our sacks of potatoes from the local Fruit Farm, so perhaps yours will sell spuds too? Worth giving them a ring?
You had me at your proper use of "you're".
  • Try Scaddows Farm near Ticknall - my mum and dad have just bought me a sack from there today :)

How much should you pay for a sack of potatoes?
  • Thanks Aventurine - I saw Scaddows but then I saw the price of £8.50 - it seemed a little steep to me but I don't know the quality or size of potatoes. If they are jacket sized and decent then I suppose that is ok - maybe I just don't know the prices of these things anymore!!
  • £8.50 my seem a bit steep to you. But you need to remember that 40 percent of the main crop was lost due to the weather. The ground was too waterlogged for equipment to enter the fields, so the crop just rotted. The other 60 percent had to be cleaned and dried, which adds to the cost's.
  • Yes, I realise that The ICT Engineer which is why I did put in my first post whether this years bad weather has had an effect AND why I was asking about prices and if that was average at the moment.

My mother was a farm secretary before she had me so I do understand the farming process!

Sacks seem to be £10 to £12 in the deep south west.

Unless anyone can point me in the direction of cheaper spuds!

    That's 25kg sacks I think
  • Thanks fatbelly - that sounds about right with regional differences.
