i'm intending to do a mail shot to some targeted businesses, to introduce my company and obviously offer my services.

The free way, go onto yell.com and search, copy and paste the business address into a word template, that prints out on labels.
Other paid ways:
You can buy info from yell.com and other firms inc directors name, what the companines worth etc.Kind Regards
