Naievity in reclaiming bank charges

Last night in our local, talking to one of the "Pub" know it alls, he is reclaiming his bank charges through a company. I was shocked he was saying that his case would be dealt with quicker as he was using them, and they would pay out more quickly as it was such a large amount of money, no it was far too big an amount with to be dealt with by any lay person etc etc!!!

He also did not seem to comprehend the enormity of taking on a huge finanacial institution an tthough the chances were very slight, he could end up in court facing them.

He also quoted the case of this new barrister who is trying to force a ruling through the courts, he had read about it in the Daily Malicious!!!

I am 100% behind anyone reclaiming their charges but it terrifies me that people do it with little or no thought or what the consequences could be however slight.

I have seen a few small ads in the papers for companies offering to do this, and today i saw an e-book on ebay for £8.99 telling you how to do it.

One od these companies appeared on watchdog as with fee's and charges one woman ended up with only 40% of her claim. the rest went to the company.

I dont understand why people would use these comapanies when there is so much advice available. There is no way that these comapnies can get him anymore money as it isnt a accident claim or insurance you are entitled to the full amount of your charges and thats it!

I guess the old saying is true. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing..."
