  • Mmmm interesting stuff.

I'm horrified at the prospect of losing my bike(s)

    I checked parkers guide...

    1994 Honda CB500R poor condition is £515
( except mines worse as it's done 38,000 miles, has no MOT or Tax, been off road/unusable for past year due to mechanical damage etc and it's dented )

Wonder what the OR would want for it? it's basically scrap i think to him.

    Other bike is

1990 Honda VFR750FL poor condition ( not listed as they only go as far back as 1993 which would be £1080 ) Mine is taxed and tested, but needs work £350-£400 valves reset and major servicing ( oil,+filter, airfilter, spark plugs etc ) ( it was due servicing at 48,000 miles but now is at 50,000 miles and rattles like a snake ) plus I came off it last year ( eeek ) then patched it up.

I could service it myself ( albeit over the space of a few dry weeks ) at a rough cost of £60-£80 as I've got the tools, but lack a garage so it's down to the weather.

Wonder what it's worth to the OR??? I intended to sell it so I could give OR some cash, but having read thi sthread... I'm now wondering if my mate or brother could offer to buy it off the OR if he takes possession instead? ( and again for CB500 .. that one does a handy 50mpg )

    side note ( i think )

I have a MINI saloon ( 1983 ) thats been off the road 10 years ( yes really ! )and it's basically a rolling ( rotting ) shell and has no interior, no engine or gearbox in it etc., but it IS in my name registered and owned by me.... What do I do about it? I guess I'll have to put it down in section 3.1.14 ?????

I'd say it's of no monetary value, but IS of HUGE sentimental value to me ( and one day hope to ressurect it )

I've got use of my sisters old car for now, but thats not going to last much longer ( i pay running costs, but it's truly knackered 1991 Pug 405 with 130,000 miles on the clock )

so not sure what i'm meant to be writing in the BR SOA form! eeek

I want my cake and I want to eat it. any idea's?

Oh.... I have to get to my sisters 6 miles away ( rural ) twice a week or more and also occasionally have to take my neice home when she works late etc. I babysit my disabled nephew once or twice a week late evenings ( plus my other nephew ) so that my sister gets some respite. I dont use public transport due to my social phobia's / depression / inability to talk to strangers. There are no late buses ( if any ) to my sisters house which is in a village.
 single forever, not looking. Don't drink, don't smoke. Oh what a Happy Bunny !!!
  • Yup, I know this is the right approach, but I'm a woman and this is a car. Now if we were talking about a pair of shoes or handbag I could haggle with the best of 'em.

  Ooh my inner feminist is coming out here!

Strap on a pair, or you'll lose your car!!! If it is worth £1000 it is of no recoverable value to the OR. Put your foot down on this one!
