    Hi

I suggest you take the price offered by the garage , HALF it, take another £100 off for agents fees, take another 15% off for auction fees and general hassle to the OR and start your offers from there. Start as low as you dare cos you never know, they might just accept it and you can always increase it.

Yup, I know this is the right approach, but I'm a woman and this is a car. Now if we were talking about a pair of shoes or handbag I could haggle with the best of 'em.

BUT I will give it my best shot. Thanks TJ.

We did all our negotiating by e-mail.

One can feel a lot braver behind the keyboard.:D

At least you've all got me laughing...if only we could negotiate our debts down in such a fashion, then I'd be a very wealthy woman!

But I am gonna start low (I've always been cheap) and like TJ says, work up from there if I have to.

How did you end up negotiating by email TJ?
  • hold the phone tight jocks got me thinking (not good at the best of times:rotfl: ) now weve got it to £275 but thats if it goes straight to auction if it does not you can add a second towing fee and storage costs and the Or allso takes a cut for there time to arange all that dont they? joking apart i think we just hit a realistic negative value here any comments?

I have never owned a worthless car before, not one that gets me around anyway!

We had the contact e-mail for our bloke at the OR office and used that to make our offer once we were sure there was no other way of keeping that car. We also had telephone contact too but used email to do the negotiating bit.

I think they have a service agrement on response times so they get back to you pretty quickly

  • morning allofadither hope our little banter yesterday eased your day a bit and if we at least made you laugh i would class that as a result i was hoping that someone with more up to date info in the costs of selling a car and its actual worth would post but dare i stick may neck out and say if no one has contradicted me then maybe im close enough? if so then i do personaly think your car is worthless to them just remember an OR is realy only a debt collector they may believe your car is worth taking but it doesnt mean there right after all anyone who takes the book price of a car and thinks thats its true worth lives in cloud cuckoo land as far as im concerned:rotfl: may i suggest instead of thinking of making an offer to buy it back if they still insist on taking it think about proving to them its worthless;) if not start at a quid:rotfl: good luck (ps what day is your interview)

Yes indeed, banter always welcome to ease the trials and tribulations of a BR. Thanks. Still dithering a little... I'm ashamed to say, especially after reading Plantpots experience with the OR. But these things have got to be got thru and I may come out of it a tad ruffled, but I will come out of it, and that's the main thing.

Hope you're making good progress with your own affairs.

As we all know on here every OR seems to be different,Allofadither please do not give in to the OR without a fight .

have you made yourself a list of reasons why you need your car?,as you can reel them off if needs be ,also write down about the fees etc so you have them in front of you as its easier to read something than trying to remember .

Thanks GIS, yeah got everything written down, pages of notes! Could write a book with it all. But hey, knowing my luck the OR will probably ask me about the one thing I haven't made notes on!!!!!

But seriously, I have written down my reasons for keeping the car and hopefully my brain will stay in gear (excuse the pun) so I don't end up a write-off (excuse this pun too)!
