Current house value

Does anyone have the link to the site where you can put in the last known value of your house to get a free estimate of the current value? Thx!

Nethouseprices.com will show you how much houses sold for over the last 5 years. It might prove helpful if similar houses have sold recently.

Thanks, no sales in the last 5 years!! There's one that you can put the last known value in, with the year of valuation, and it gives you an estimate based on the average rises. Anyone know it?

Is this the one you're looking for? http://www.nationwide.co.uk/hpi/
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

weird - just for fun I put in the details of our house based on what the people we bought it from paid, and its come up with this...
A property located in UK which was valued at £103000 in Q3 of 1993, would be worth approximately £349437 in Q1 of 2007.
This is equivalent to a change of 239.26%.

Where on EARTH does that calculation come from???

    EDIT

haha duh I'm such a number dyslexic. It was £103000 in 2003 not 1993. In actual fact it says the value today should be £139349 which is really interesting as we've just paid £139000 for it :)

Previous house sale detail might provide you with an indication to yours...https://www.ourproperty.co.uk - just type in your postcode. you can also sign up (FOC) for recent sales in your area.

P.S I have no link to this site other than as a user for property research!

    Thats it, thx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a bit out for houses round here though!

we bought our house for 70000 in 1995 and that calculator says it should be worth 241000!

We've just sold at 18600, and had to drop the price from 199000 to get a sale. Theres no way anyone would pay 241k for our house.
  • agreed I found the calculation somewhat adrift too ... have accepted offer 100k below what they said.

Interestingly I had an ea to give me a valuation on my house today & the checking out the Nationwide site, their valuation is a good few thousand more than the ea suggested my house would fetch.

My mortgage is with the Halifax & with their online service it gives you an estimate of the current value of your house & that was pretty spot on.

I think the trouble with the Nationwide one is it's taking somewhere like Greater London as a whole. Obviously if you are in a London suburb like me then valuation is going to be less than somebody in a comparable property in say zone 2 or 3.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I put the last place I sold through the Nationwide HPI, and it came out at a theoretical £455k - but we actually achieved £490k.

All markets are local, so use it as a guide only.

There are other websites like mouseprices.co.uk, that can be used as a comparator
