Hi,
Sorry, if posted in wrong section.
I am looking for the defination from HM for Indenpendent Contractor vs Self-Employed but haven't found though on their site neither here as on best of my search, so posting here.
Can some one please give me a link to this, which define this clearly with all the diffrence.
I am working as contractor for a company through my limited company setup (I am the director of the my ltd. company), in the case will I am a Indenpendent Contractor or Self-Employed, please answer this if you can't provide me above.
Thanks in advanced.

I do not know that there is a clear definition, because I think a number of factors are taken into account, and if there is and you can't find it on HMRC site then phoning them for advice would probably make sense.Signature removed for peace of mind0

I've always thought of them as one and the same thing, pretty much. I work as an Independent Contractor for a particular company, which means I'm not employed by them, as I'm a contractor, but I'm self-employed (although I haven't set up a limited company). But it would probably be sensible to check with HMRC0

I think you'll find it hard to get a definitive description because this comes under (I think) IR35 legislation... ie difference between a contractor and a consultant and what NI and Tax you pay... I believe the Inland Revenue will look at how you are managed by the companies you contract to... Not sure if this had helped or confused the issue?Light Bulb Moment 4th January 2009 :eek:Started DMP 1st April 2009 :ADMP mutual support thread member: 267 :j0
