CCleaner SSD settings

My PC just has a SSD hard drive. do I need to uncheck the Wipe Free Space drives and Wipe MFT Free Space options in ccleaner settings ?
I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.

  • You should do some research on what this feature does. I dont use it because it time consuming. Also SSDs have circuitry to reduce writes to prolong device life.
  • Only uncheck wipe free space the rest you can leave. Also get CCEnhancer (http://singularlabs.com/software/ccenhancer/download/), download it, install updates. This runs when you open CCleaner and deletes far more than CCleaner alone.

Dont forget to turn any Defrag applications you may have as this will degrade your hard drive very very quickly.

ccenhancer is full of things that hardly anyone will have installed, and (on a normal hard disk), slows ccleaner loading time because of the long list of contents of winapp2.ini - to speed it up, edit winapp2.ini to include only what you have installed.

no need to run wipe free space/mft on any disk, especially an ssd, unless you don't want someone else to recover data in future - ie when you are selling a machine
