The picture frame idea, but with everyone's names on them? Might help when she is having a good day.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I'd suggest something she can smell too. Tesco's have a lovely lavender scented pillow spray to aid restful sleep. I got it in the Health and Beauty bit, in a section of shelving with Tesco Finest bath and skin care stuff, although the pillow spray wasn't Tesco Finest make. Only a few pounds as well.
Or what about a posh room/linen spray - the care staff could spray it about for her if she wasn't able to herself. Or some scented drawer/wardrobe sachets; you could even make these with some dried lavender or rose petals.
Best wishes,

Someone bought me a mat to pop my tea on, and it was full of po porri (sp) type stuff. When you put the tea cup down, the heat makes the scent come out."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." my mum is 83 and very difficult to buy for as she has dementia, I thin i would go for something that smells nice as this is probably her best sense and nursing homes dont always smell sweet! maybe a pot of jasmine as that smells lovely and lasts for ages if watered, if that is put on a table near to her i am sure she would enjoy the fragrance, even my old neighbour loves his and cant stop sniffing it! or a perfume she likes, even a nice room fragrance from m&s or bodyshop would be nice, mum also loves her cuddly toys and gets lots of pleaseure from them i gave her a small hot water bottle with a fluffy teddy in jumper cover on and she loves it, recently in hospital she had her it with her and cuddled him for 2 weeks!! he was cold at times but she didnt mind!! im sure youll find her something lovely, JaneMember 1145 Sealed Pot Challenge No4

I don't think I'd be able to take her out anywhere, she's just not interested. She won't go out anywhere.
The idea of reading to her is a good one but she can hardly hear so we would have to shout at her!! Even with her hearing aid in she can't hear. She didn't know who I was last week when I went there. She just kept asking who it was and when I said my name she didn't remember who i was.
a bit off topic but my daughter works in a care home & they always check for urine infections when a resident gets forgetfull like this....dont want to worry you but you might mention it to the staff next time you visit.
Would she be allowed a pot plant in her room - hyathincs are still around & smell devine(sp) & fragrance the whole room
or maybe a 'silly' pressy like a party bag with colouring book & colours & a ballon- if she has a sense of humour lol
or as others have suggested a photo album with everyones name under the pictures- I need this too as I'm useless with rremembering names, what I'll be like when my memory starts to go I dread to think:eek:I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
I decided to get her some pot pourri and a nice bowl to put it in. I havn't got it yet but i will be doing so in the next couple of days.
She's got MRSA caught from hospital (she went in hospital just after xmas with a twisted ankle and came out 100 times worse than when she went in).2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
Freisias are bright really nice smelling flowers ~ they don't need a very big vase either, so don't take up much room.0
