I hired a car from avis last week for 3 days. I booked it online and collect the car from a local hotel which is part of the avis hire group.
The car was fine had it for 3 days returned it on the last day at 4.30pm. gave the keys back to the manger of the hotel who didn't bother to check the car.
The next day at about 3.45pm get a call from the avis group say car had been picked up from the hotel and some damaged had been noticed and I needed to pay £800 excess.
I said when I left the car at 4.30pm all was ok and manger of hotel didn't say any think.
I had got excess insurance with another company online to cover the excess of £800.
I didnt damage the car and it was left in the hotel car park for 18 hour before a avis employer pick it up.
My rental ended at 5.30pm car was picked up 12 lunch time next day.
what should I do as other insurance company I telling me to fight the damage as avis can provide a copy of the sign rental agreement.
As when I picked the car I was not asked to sign rental agreement.
please help

Ask for a copy of the check sheet when you booked the car out and when it was booked back in.
From what you said they wont have these so wont be able to prove you did the damage.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

You should have demanded that the manager check the car in front of you when you returned it.
Hopefully they won't be able to prove either way as forgotmyname said.,0 -
