When I was researching website design, I read a website magazine whose experts used this website as an example of a particularly bad design!!! That was several years ago and the design has not changed yet! lol!

Never ever noticed them before. Quite handy. I'll use them now I know!

That will be advert blindness. If it's bright and garish, then it's probably an advert. It doesn't take long using the internet before your brain simply filters out anything that looks like an advert on a web page.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

It's me too, I'm always ending up in Premium Bond calculators, lol.

MUCH WORSE when you're on your phone and end up in students instead of forums.

Using my PC/Laptop, I don't ever have that issue.

I could see using a tablet/phone it could well happen quite a bit.

Is there not a tablet/phone friendly version of the website?
  • Can't you just use tabbed browsing?

Go to a forum, and then middle click on each of the topics you want to look at, a new tab will open for each. Navigate to the tab on the far right, and then close the tab once you have finished reading. No need at all to click back.

The part of the MSE forum design which irritates me most (especially on a smartphone/tablet) is the list of threads in any particular forum.

Each thread title is listed in blue which you click on to read the post, however the author is listed in black directly below but is also clickable, meaning a 1mm slip of the finger an you're reading the profile of the thread poster rather than the thread. Why this remains clickable I've no idea as why would you want info on the poster without even reading the thread first?

Once you're viewing the thread it is clear and intuitive on how to view/contact the thread author, thereby making the link on the main page even more unnecessary.

I've not clicked on the coloured tabs by mistake to my knowledge, but I've done the above dozens of times!

    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
