Too many printers!

Last week I ordered a laser printer from Amazon. The next day, 2 identical printers were delivered - my order was for one and that's all I've been billed for.

I contacted Amazon and they sent me a link to a returns label which I duly printed. Collection was scheduled for Wednesday (yesterday) and involved me reorganising my week so as to be at home all day. Surprise! - the courier didn't turn up.

I emailed Amazon - as yet, no reply.

My question is: what more do I need to do to give Amazon a fair chance to reclaim the printer and at what point can I reasonably assume that they're not interested it?

Call them up and ask what's going on.

If you don't return the item you can expect a warning E-Mail telling you they'll soon debit your credit card. You can also return Amazon items via "Collect+" outlets which should negate the need for you to wait in for a courier.

The courier wasn't Yodel by any chance?

They are terrible. In some areas they use subcontract private drivers. I paid extra for next day, a Saturday, delivery and it hadn't arrived by 17:00 so I called the mobile number given only to be told by some very grumpy bloke that no way was he driving 40 miles to deliver one parcel on a Saturday!

It didn't come until the Tuesday when the grumpy bloke turned up in an old Ford Fiesta. All he did was complain that what they paid him wouldn't cover the fuel he'd used getting to me, if true it's not surprising he was reluctant. I did get a refund on the delivery.

Amazon also use them and when my kindle died they sent me a replacement which arrived next day, delivered by Royal Mail. like you they emailed me a return label and a number to call Yodel to arrange collection.

They didn't show so I rearranged a second date and they didn't show again but offered a third date which I refused. By now I've had enough and called Amazon to complain who told me to take it to the PO and post it and they'd refund the postage, which they did.

Then out of the blue a couple of days later I got a phone call from the same grumpy bloke asking about the collection and when he could come. When I told him I'd posted it back he got quite cheerful.

As it happens I work from home so other than being irritating it wasn't a huge deal like it would be for someone who had to arrange time off.

Chase them up. However, you can't assume they don't want the goods until you have written to them twice to remind them.

You don't have to do anything more. You have informed them and asked them to collect it, so far they (or their subcontractors) have failed to do so.

If not I would guess CityLink , They turned up one day late , and I have sent the "apology" from them to amazon asking for the next day delivery charge to be refunded as per their T&Cs. Being the cussed sod that I am I suggested that rather crediting back to my Bank/Card I suggested that they give the £8.75 to HMRC in lieu of corporation tax , but CityLink are really abysmal, I have actually had
    1 x next day by 1300 delivered at 2130
1 x next day by 1300 delivered at 0930 the next day

  • Well, they've arranged another collection for today. If they don't turn up this time, I'll assume it's a Christmas present.

Bad advice. Amazon can't do that ... it was THEIR ERROR. If they DID do that then OP could sue them.

Yes, I was advised if I didn't return an exchanged item within 30 days my card would be charged. I agree that would have been my responsibility, not Amazon's.

I had this with Argos and a hedge trimmer a couple of years back.

A couple of years on, I still have 2 hedge trimmers :)
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
