Hi, can anyone help, im trying to set up a pc for my 7 year old, got a pentium 11 for her but when i connect the monitor nothing comes on the screen, ive got power to the monitor, I put my monitor on and the same thing happened so i've ruled out the monitor being faulty, I have taken out the graphics card and put another in it worked but then when I restarted the pc no display [not even a cursor] could it be the motherboard?
thanks
thanks

Is the graphics card showing in Device Manager? Are the drivers correctly installed and working?

I know it might sound silly. But is there only one connection for the monitor? Did it have onboard graphics before? If so try the other connection. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Can you see the POST, ie when you first switch on the machine can you see the BIOS before it boots up Windows. If you can, then it sounds like you need to reinstall your monitor within Windows, it is probably set at a higher resolution/colour rate than the monitor is capable of.
If you can't quite literally see anything from the second you turn on your machine, then it's usually a process of elimination like you've been doing. From that though I would either go with the graphics card or monitor.
You mentioned a single beep, that usually means everything (CPU, Ram, Motherboard) is ok."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
