MBNA - service above and beyond?

I received a settlement last year from MBNA for a card I had with them. The card in question was a BoS affinity card they bought over in 2006.
Just received a letter saying that in reviewing their cases, they've discovered PPI was on the card when they bought it, and they've passed on my complaint to HBoS for the period pre 2006. The monies they settled were from 2006 onwards only according to their letter.
When I contacted BoS previously they claimed they could find no trace of the card, so hopefully MBNA will have passed on details that will help them track it down (All I had was the card number and an old expired card.
Regardless, I appreciate them doing something they don't have to do. So thank you MBNA, credit where it's due.

Don't thank MBNA, they settle my claim in December 2011 and said they were looking into it..... In September after months of calling both HBOS and MBNA I have taken it to the FOS. My claim was the same, settled from January 2006 until I cancelled the PPI. HBOS said the same to me, "We have received your details from MBNA but can find no details of us being responsible for your PPI". For the record, I always beleived it was an MBNA card, someone isn't telling the truth..... Good luck.0

Mine deffo was a BOS card before MBNA bought it though. I had it for 10 years before they did.
Still likely they will find nothing though, given the passage of time.0
