Refilling Electric plug in air freshener cheaply

Options
hi I have 3 glade electric plug in air fresheners and they last around 30 to 60 days before the refill is empty and with 3 at £3.50 a pop it aint cheap. I find the electric ones best out of all the air fresheners we have. My question is, a local shop sells scented oils at £3.00 for 100ml and I was wondering if it was possible to refill the little bottles from one of these big bottles and use them in the plug in making it much cheaper for me, alternately can I buy electric plugins that will take indepently bought oils as I dont mind buying new units that will allow me to use the cheap oils that smell lovely. I cant afford to keep buying refills at the rate I use thembso any help or suggestions please.

  • Have you tried opening a few windows ? Or removing the source of the smells that you find so objectionable ?

Or (as I suspect) have you just been "conned" by the TV ads ?

I enjoy the sweet smells that I get from the plug ins. Also I am not happy opening windows in tempretures of -7.
  • I know it's a bit cheap, but you can always find them in pound shops.

  • i think they are all sealed units therefore not re-fillable
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
  • So they are sealed so you cant refill them. Is there an alternative that will has refillable refills. The refills you get for the glade is only 20ml and on full scen it lasts around 2 weeks. Do airwick have a plug in airfreshener that you can get compatable refills. I have a airwick that has a timed spray but you can only smell it for a minute then nothing. We just like the nice fresh smells. We are not a dirty household lol.

Why not find a perfume / scent that you like.

Place a drop just above your top lip & you'll have sweet smells wherever you go.

I have those ,when my husband died I had lots of different part bottles of very expensive aftershaves, I took the nearly full to the charity shop but wondered what to do with the rest, then my smelly ran out, when I pulled the bottle out to replace there is room to fill, so I did, it is possible. Try the oil, nothing to lose.
Do I need it or just want it.

To be honest I would be very warey of refilling them, they are sealed for a reason that is the way they should be left.

In opening them you could be placing strain on the vials which could cause them to rupture when in use, which could well lead to a fire. I remember my brother in law showing me photos from a house fire cause by one of the plug in units, that was deemed the cause of the fire when he investigated it ...I wouldnt trust one (no matter what make they are) as far as I could throw one !
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful
  • If this is the glade/airwick kind then it's just a plastic plug, prise it out and refill. I used to buy whatever was cheapest and refill my glade one. I also had a Yankee plugin and that was the same. Hope that helps.
