Multi-trip travel Insurance, is there any need for me?

I'm flying to Frankfurt in October to run the marathon out there. I always get insurance for overseas marathons just in case the worst happens. I'll be travelling there on my own.
Also next year I'm taking a family holiday to Dorset, and I will be running a number of marathons in the UK, travelling usually by train and staying overnight beforehand.
I'll also be doing at least one day trip to France.
Is there any argument in favour of my taking out multi-trip annual insurance for my whole family to cover the EU? Or will that be just a waste of money?
