    getting damage deposits back
Having read what you said on the shared bills thread, I guess you'll tell the landlord that any damage deposits should be made payable to you, and you'll sort out your housemates ... ;)

  • Spoke to the landlord. He promsied to give me my damage deposit back no matter what due to me helping him with other things through out the year.. and because of the mess of the house when i first moved in.

He said legally he cant use others damage deposits for bills without their permission, and they wont give it :s even tho their forfeiting the monies to pay towards the rent they're not going to pay. NIGHTMARE lol

But that's not quite what I was suggesting ... and what I'm suggesting might not be legal either, BUT just saying "Oh, I know where Fred and Joe are living, if you want me to pass their deposits on to them ..."

  • haha I see... well my landlord is a great guy.. but I don't know if he'd trust me with their deposits :P

Will keep it in mind though ;)

To be fair as anyone in my position would say, they've made life HELL this year for me and the girlfriend... I could write a list of why, but I won't. Just understand that EVERYTHING wrong with flatmates you could imagine... thats the list :P lol!

    Gone soon thank god

I'm with you guys ont he shared house thing...i did it on the second year, which wasn't too bad as I was sharing with friends so you don't feel bad nagging them for bills and telling them to tidy up etc but on placement was with people I'd only just met so it can be a bit more awkward!
With any luck I'll find a grad job somewhere close to home to I can commute until i can afford to get somewhere for myself.
I don't think a flatshare with one toher like minded person would be so bad it's just whens there's 4 of you it can be a bit much!

Also next time I'd def set up a joint accountant with the other tenants and have all the bills coming out from that account and then all have a direct debit going in each month to cover the costs. I knwo of a ocuple people who did it this way and it seems to take all the hassle out of it and doesn't leave anyone out of pocket whilst they are waiting for their housemates to pay them!

    HTH :J
  • Well starting in May, me and suzzi2704 will be sharing so if there are any problems i'll know where to find her ^-^ hehe.. on mse of course
