Applying for a second A&L current acc - possible?

A&L are offering 6.5% on Premier Direct current accounts for 12 months I see.

I also noticed that no mention is made of holding a Premier current account (with the Regular Saver) as a disqualification to apply. I have held both current accounts in the past (and now have a Premier account but not a Premier Direct one)

Worth applying for in that case?
To be eligible for a Premier Direct at a rate of 6.50% AER fixed until 31.07.08 applicants must not currently hold a Premier Direct Current Account and must not have held a Premier Direct Current Account in the three months preceding a new Premier Direct Current Account Application. This offer is subject to availability and is only available for applications made on or after 13.04.07.

If no one responds with a definite "no" from experience and you haven't had the Direct account in the last three months, it's surely worth making an application.

Let us know how you get on.

    Hi Milarky,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but no you cannot apply for a Premier Direct Account if you have a Premier Account at the moment: It's one or the other I'm afraid as there is a maximum of either one Premier Direct or Premier Account per customer (this can be seen in the important information section for the account.) You also cannot apply for either account if you have held either one in the past 3 months.

    Regards

    Michelle

    Hi Alexlv,

When did you open both accounts? It may just be that they've made a mistake in your case and not noticed that you had the other one when you applied for the second account which is pretty lucky for you but the rule definitely is you can only have one. This has not always been the rule, however, but I can't remember exactly when it changed.

    Regards

    Michelle

Well, I did apply online yesterday and was accepted by email. Shall wait and see what happens. (Damn! if I was going to do that I should have applied through Quidco!)

    Hi Milarky,

Good luck with it then - as I say technically it's not allowed but they do make mistakes at times so you might get lucky. Oops about the quidco!

:rotfl: You never know - if they make the mistake of opening the 2 accounts they must think it's two different people so they could be incompetant enough! :D Seriously though I'm sure trying that would just flag their mistake up to them.
