advice re pre pay meters
hi
just after a bit of quick advice, i have prepay gas and elec meters in my property (with debt on).
my landlord has now advised me he needs the property back for his brother who is getting married, (dont worry about me i've only lived there for 7 years!!!)
when i find a new property what do i do about the meter debt, obviously i know to inform the utility companies but will they expect immediate payment in full or will they transfer the debt to new meter or agree a payment plan with me?

I would think immediate payment as you are leaving the property. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0

ah ok, i rather thopught they may carry it over to my new rental property.0

Which may not have PPM's.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

ignore the above, they will agree a repayment plan. Only if you agree and the new property be supplied by them can they transfer the debt under the slcDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

thank you for your advice. It has settled my mind a little. Am anticipating moving into a smaller property so therefore paying less rent and am wanting to offset the rent saved against the gas debt. I (personally) think they will see this as a good option as i will be paying back an awful lot more than i am currently doing each month.0 -

If you don't have it you dont have it. A fair & reasonable offer of payment is the best they can hope for as the only other thing they could do is go to court where you'd probably only make the same offer and see it accepted
Personally I'd suggest you also look for a property that is supplied by someone else. That way they can't fit a PPM against your wishes, threaten to cut you off if you don't pay in full immediately etc even if they wanted to.0
