Suppose my £1000 plasma tv were stolen and I made a claim on the house insurance. Would I have to report this claim to the car insurance company?

I know it may sound like a rather naive question, but there's soemthing irking me about an insurance hypocrisy i discovered recently:
No claims bonus earned on a motorcycle cannot be used towards a car policy, but a theft claim on a motorcycle policy must be declared to a car insurance company and results in an increased premium (10% in my case)
If a theft of a TV (or even, let us say that the motorcycle itself were stolen from inside the house and the house insurance paid out) would not have to be declared I'd like to know the reason for the hypocrisy (why must i report bad news and pay more, but cannot report good news and pay less)
I'm all for declaring a bike theft to a car co, if I can also use my bike no claims bonus on a car (or have some evidence of car discount applied in appreciation of the fact that I'm a lower risk driver of any kind of vehicle), but I can't. I was fobbed off with "well, maybe the bike theft proves youre in a high crime living area and your car is more likely to be stolen as a reuslt so your premium should be loaded" .. but if the theft of possessions (proof i'm in a high crime area) that are claimed off house insurance does not apply to car insurance, this foboff is void.
Before I write for a better explanation from the underwriters, I wanted to know about this last point. Hopefully I'm looking at the argument both ways; feel free to poke holes in it0 -
Its insurance it will never make sense to us.
Put yourself in their shoes and see how many seemingly useless questions you can think of that if asnwered incorrectly could be used to increase the premium.
Wouldnt you start using that question to get more money?
My question would be... o you have ingrowing toenails and how often do you clip your toenails.
You think ????
But if you have an ingrowing toenail you are a higher risk because you might not be able to brake as hard as a person that doesnt have them.
Same with long toenails. You may break one whilst braking hard and actually come off the brake because of the pain.
Dont ask me im an insurance company we only think of these questions to make insurance fairerCensorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Some insures will allow you to transfer a bike NCD to a car for example Direct Line and its sister brands. Like a car NCD however an NCD can only be used on one vehicle at a time and so you'd have to stop using the bike to transfer it across.0
