Switching to a credit meter

Is there any companies who will switch from prepayment to credit meter without doing a credit check?

(the mse guide says edf do but i've heard they still do the check)

As far as I'm aware, every company will do a credit check. There is also normally a fee involved with switching over PP to a credit meter.
  • Thanks,
I spoke to EDF this morning who told me they do a cc but it only looks at utility payments not bank/cards which is positive as I am on a dmp but no issues with utilities and in credit on meter (moved to a house with ppm, had credit meter in prev houses for 10 years with annual credit balance). So hoping they have told me the truth!

It depends as sap scores you, if it shows caution on cra they may decline or request a security deposit
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Lots of useful information here about changing from a PPM to a credit meter.

Have a look at Ebico. There's no mention of a credit check though you may be required to pay any debt on the meter or a security deposit depending on circumstances. If you reason for wanting to change is because its cheaper to pay by DDI this doesn't apply with Ebico who charge a flat rate regardless of payment method
