hi.
over the last couple of months my freeview reception has got worse, sound breaking up and video pixelation, this is not on all channels though. Is anyone else experiencing this? I live in the Kent Medway area Bluebell hill being my local transmitter.I have read that the new mobile 4G network my be to blame.

You need to check the received signal strength and quality on the channels that you are having problems with and compare it to those that are OK. You may find that you only have problems when receiving channels on the highest frequency MUX or maybe the lowest frequency MUX.
There is currently no 4G operating on the frequencies that may cause TV interference. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I was surprised at this post! I thought this was normal. I get picture breakup occasionally, usually on the "third-party" (i.e. not bbc, itv, etc) channels. I got this very badly before the digital switch over, but after the digital switch over all is well. I still get the ocassionaly breakup on one or two channels but this tends to be on certain programmes/broadcasts too (i.e. the same channel might be great for weeks or months but then the odd, pre-digital, tv programme might spolis things).
I use an indoor aerial, so I bought a booster for £20 in Argos which has helped tremendously. I unplugged it a few months back just to see if there was any real difference and there was. So my booster really is doing its job well. I highly recommend a booster if you are using an indoor aerial.

Indoor aerials are rarely satisfactory unless you are very close to the transmitter. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Have you re-tuned since the analog turn off?
Also I think you would get better reception from the Crystal Palace transmitter.0 -

Check that the aerial is still pointing at the transmitter, that there's been no water penetration into the connection at the aerial or the cable, that the cable is in good order all the way to the TV. If your aerial leads to a wall socket, and your RF cable goes from this wall socket to the TV, check this is making solid contact, and maybe clean the plug and socket with some switch/contact cleaner (from Maplin and other electronic stores). Check the plug/socket interface where the RF cable comes into the TV or digibox as well.
Is it an outside aerial? In the loft? On top of the TV?0 -
I get the exact same symptoms with my Humax 9150T. On some channels you get pictures breaking up and glitching on others you don't. There is no difference in signal strength.
Turning the unit on and off always cures it but it does not last and can return hours or days later. I'm afraid I don't know what the real cause is sadly.0 -
Thor,
I should mention that I to have Humax (model 9300T ) and my tv has built in freesat which is ok, the problem I have described is on the Humax recordings which uses freeview, that said I have a bedroom tv using freeview and that also gets this tv pixelation and sound distortion but only on certain channels. This used to and still does happen in bad raining weather.
I have also checked all cables aerials, cats, birds, spiders directions ect, ect."Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0 -

Did you read any of the other posts!
What signal strength and signal quality does your Humax display? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
letsbehonest, let's be honest - you've got 2 Freeview boxes with poor reception. That means there's something wrong with your aerial, your cabling, or the area you're in. This also has nothing to do with Freesat.0
