Northumbria Uni

Options
My son is hoping to go to Northumbria Uni in Newcastle this year. Has anyone got experience of the accommodation? He says it is better to be near the university so he has not got far to roll in the morning and no bus fares to pay. Are the nearest ones the best? They seem to look out onto a flyover!

depends on your budget. the flyover you must have seen must have been a view from Claude Gibb halls, to my knowledge the cheapest of the lot. for around 70pw, there are 2 large halls of residence within walking distance of the university, the town centre, and the quayside. the largest is called 'quay point', and the other, 'knoll court'. both halls were built in 2005, and are both en-suite. i lived in knoll court last year, and it was fantastic. i couldn't recommend it highly enough.

in specification, these halls are relatively the same. in knoll court, your bills plus broadband are included, whilst quay point's internet connection is charged, although a television and a basic sky package are included.

hope this helps. anything else, just ask.

Thanks for your help. It sounds like it was Quay Point he was interested in.

I'm living at knoll court. i agree with remy, i've really enjoyed my year here. great location and very new with on suite, also very secure. Quay point is just up the road and is very similar but they seem a bit over the top with security and difficult for lots of visitors to go party.

camden court (very nice) and glenamar (average) look onto a busy road but very close to uni.
i also seen stephenson, garth heads, rubicon house and claude gibb and thought they were sh*tty. especially stephenson.

would defo recommend knoll but u r most likely sharing with only 3 others which can be great or crap if u dont like them. i love my flatmates like. they try to put foreigners in their own block as well.
What's it going to be, eh?
