Northern rock loan over £25,000

I've been following this thread with interest.
We took out an unsecured loan, £30K in 2007 with Northern Rock.
Having read the info on the NRAM website about loans over £25K having no issues, we thought no more.
Then, reading through our latest mortgage & loan statement, the bottom of the page displays two paragraphs and states they are extracts from our CCA and we should refer to our CCA for full details regarding the mortgage and loan.........
I think we will write direct to the FOS and bypass NRAM and see where that takes us.
Hi there,
Just to let you know that a few of us are already in the process of doing this. I complained to NRAM and have received their final response letter (which you need in order to progress with the FOS) basically fobbing me off and saying that we have no grounds for complaint.
I then sent everything off to the FOS on the 19th February and have been told that I will receive a response from them within 12 weeks of this date. So I only have a few more weeks to wait and will update my progress on this forum.
Unfortunately you must follow this procedure as otherwise the FOS will not entertain any complaint. The more of us that complain to the FOS the better. Also there are other people on this forum doing some fantastic work getting the media involved too so lets hope things progress soon...0 -
I have just received a call from the FOS adjudicator assigned to my case. He had very interesting news that he could not give any time frames around the case and nor could he send an assesment to NRAM because they have received so many complaints they are to be treated as one. This will give a consistent reply to all.
So looks as though the FoS are turning this into 1 super complaint.0 -
Hi,
I too had a call from the FOS basically saying the same thing. Sounds like although we have complained individually, they are treating this as one complaint due to the scale and potential severity of the issue. They said that they would keep me posted of progress and although could not comit to any timescales, that he hoped it would be weeks rather than months. Seems pretty positive though and let's wait and see!!!0 -
That's interesting news thanks for sharing!
I thought there would be a lot of complaints with them.
Looks as though nram will be getting into trouble soon!! About blooming time!0 -
I was on the phone to him for about 20mins or so and he seemed genuinely interested. He also said that he had seen the UKAR statement confirming that they had set aside additional reserves for over £25k CCA loans. And although he couldn't really comment too much (calls being recorded I guess and decision not made) he did let slip that he wasn't overly impressed with the final response letter that I had received from NRAM. Lets hope we get an update soon....0

Sent complaint to NRAM 14th January. Received letter from them yesterday saying they can't provide me with a response yet and asking for more time. Have today posted a ccomplaint to the FOS.0
