Eon Central Heating cover... really very poor!
Ok so for peace of mind a couple of years ago I took out central heating cover with Eon.
I have not needed it until 2 weeks ago when our boiler suddenly packed up (great timing..just in time for the winter months)
I contacted Eon and was given an appointment for a weeks time, although they did say as we have a 2 year old in the property they would try and re schedule the appointment for an earlier appointment.
I then received a text message a few hours later saying this was exactly what they did my new appointment was in 48 hours time. On the day of the appointment i received a text saying that the appointment had been changed to the afternoon instead of the morning due to sickness.
When the engineer attended he said he needed to order a part and he would be out to fit it over the next couple of days. I then received a text message a couple of days later saying the appointment was booked for 3 days time (Wednesday this week). I called them straight away as I knew I had an interview that day so couldn't be here... The next appointment they could offer me was Wednesday next week but with the promise they would try to re schedule.
I then receive a text saying the appointment was now saturday between 1300 and 2000. Then a few mins after the text my wife takes a call from Eon saying we can get an engineer tonight (this was 2016hrs last night) she agrees and waits until midnight with no engineer.
I called this morning only to be told that it was a mistake and we shouldn't have been called... The only appointment we can have is next Wednesday... Thats over 2 weeks without any heating... in this weather... with a 5 and 2 year old both of whom are sick.

Can you not use a cheap £10 convector heater to give you some basic heating until this is sorted? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I know exactly how you feel. On the 28th November an engineer came to give our boiler it's annual inspection. It was working fine as far as we were concerned but he found a problem with the hot water and said it wasn't working properly and he would have to raise it as a breakdown. He did leave it working as before though.
An engineer came on Friday the 30th and said it needed a new burner so he would order one and come back on the Tuesday to fit it.
On Tuesday another engineer arrived to fit it but said it wasn't the burner and instead it needed a new door.
On Friday The 7th December, two engineers arrived and spent a large part of the day looking at it and told us it needed another part and they were unable to find a replacement in the country. He said it would have to be ordered and if it arrived as expected on the Tuesday he would come back on the Wednesday to fit it. I heard him telling the office that he would need a four hour appointment for it. He then announced that it wasn't safe to leave on and we would be without heating or hot water until fixed. He said he would ring on Monday to fix up Wednesdays appointment.
My husband and I are in our late 60s and were not too impressed but accepted this. We have a gas fire and fan heaters but in this weather it is not enough. Having to carry hot kettles upstairs in order to have a bath is not too safe either.
Each day this week we rang and were told someone would ring us back that day but they didn't. Today we rang twice and eventually someone has rung and said the earliest appointment we can have is next Wednesday the 19th. That will be two weeks without hot water or central heating and I dread the next electric bill as we have had to have electric heaters on most of the time.
I would definitely not recommend EON0 -
Eon dont have a good reputation on this board for their service but then you can only get it so cheap and then it all starts to collapse. Too few good quality engineers who know what they are doing being flogged to rush and do lots of jobs. A low fix first time rate.
Have you checked British Gas charges for cover by the way??
http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/boilers-and-central-heating/cover.html?bglink_id=imm10010Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Hi
We used to have British Gas but then moved to Eon a few years ago. For some time Eon seemed to be an improvement on British Gas but not anymore.0
