Hi,
I currently have the standard Virgin Media box, is there any way I can buy a standard hard drive recorder and record off Virgin Media.
I know I can get the V+ box, but I object to paying an extra £15 a month for the privilege, also I have no tv aerial at the moment so the only tv I get is through virgin.

Most hard drive recorders have Scart sockets which allow you to record from external sources.
So, like a VCR, connect the VCR scart from the cable box to one of the Scart sockets on the recorder, then if you want to do recordings you set the channel on the cable box (or use the timer on the cable box) AND set a timer on the recorder to use the scart socket (ie NOT TV channel) you've connected the cable box to.
As I said exactly the same way as for a VCR.0
