Morning all.
Hoping to get some help ,I am desperate.
Windows starting to install new updates just as I was about to close down for the night, but I could not stop it so I left it running, it is still running the same page now! I have tried Ctrl,Alt & Delete nothing works,( I am on my desk top now) I have unplugged and it is running on the battery.
The page has not changed, it is just frozen?
Acer Aspire 5742Z
Intel Processor P1600
500 GB HDD
4bg DDR3 Memory 6-cell Li-ion Battery DVDMulti Drive

Any not too technical help would be appreciated.

Firstly, plug it back in, not too technical myself but my son shut his laptop down in the middle of an update and he had to have windows put back on.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Try resetting and booting in safe mode, no updates will occur but from there you can stop the updates and then reset with no problems0

Thank you for that info.
I have sorted it after reading a thread on here from last month,.
Just hold the power button down for a few seconds and loh& behold everything is running back to normal.
I just LOVE this site, saved me £500 for a new laptop.You live..You learn.:)0 -
Now it's sorted, go into the updates setting (put windows updates in the search box) and set it so that you can control which updates are downloaded and applied rather than automatic, saves being caught out late at night! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
