Negative scanning

Options
Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone knows about cheap and good negative scanning in London. I have just 1 negative to scan (my passport photo) as I wanted to print it out for future usage; so any suggestion?

Thanks in advanced!

I don't think that the scanning of colour negatives ever comes out successfully, as it does with slides/transparencies. I would take the neg to the likes of Boots or Jessops and ask them to make a print of it, or however many you want. And you always have the option of scanning the print for future use.

Might be worth an ask at Jessops (or other photo store) or Boots, Spielman etc or try google for mail order (try searching for film negative to cd).

I've scanned quite a few at home - bit more effort than slides as each film type has a different colour mask (even the same type of film changes over several years), but you can get decent results.

Marty's suggestion also works well - I've scanned quite a few prints with a normal flat-bed with good results.

    Simply not true.

With slides you can see what you are supposed to be aiming for and makes it easier to judge.

If the 'OP' cares to PM me, and is prepared to pay postage, I will scan FOC and supply a disc with various formats on it.

Scanning from a negative will ALWAYS produce a far better finished product than scanning from a print.

I use a dedicated negative scanner, not a flatbed.

I do it just for fun, and provided you are not looking hours worth of work, and indeed your negative is both clean and dust free you should be perfectly happy with the results
