Living in Austerity

  • Isn't Austerity in the same neck of the woods as Penury? :p
  • I think I will start a new diary. I had a LOT of bad things happen last year but next year a lot of good things are due to happen. The first 6 months of the year are going to be VERY tight so a diary might help me keep on track.

Do it!! Sorry to hear you had a bad year :( I'm totally not looking forward to 2013 to be honest :( The thought of another year living on next to nothing and in constant fear of unpaid direct debits fills me with dread. I think the MSE site is a good place to be because there's a much more positive vibe on here than pretty much anywhere in Ireland at the moment.

Puppy sounds CUTE, what's his name

Puppy is adorable. He's a golden retriever called Bailey. He just keeps growing though, he was so tiny when we got him and now he's 8 months and HUGE. Love him to bits and he's being so good when we go to in-laws over Xmas.

Big dogs are my favourite, I'm not really a handbag-dog type of girl. I hope Bailey's not on the Royal Canin!!! My mothers cat gets that and it's definitely not a MSE friendly price!

Another not so good day. My mother is upset because her sister (my aunt) has Alzheimers and hasn't been well over Christmas. I'm adding this to my ever increasing list of things that are getting me down. I really can't look forward to 2013. For me at this time there is nothing to look forward to :( All I can see ahead are problems.

Today was a NSD as I didn't go out.

  • Hey Mags xxxx

It's hard sometimes to find stuff to look forward to. It is in no way the same as your situation but I am realising I everything is costing me too much money at the moment and I am lacking time and motivation for studies and the like. It is a bloody struggle some days to be frank. I have no clue at the moment what to do next.

I had a lovely experience at school this term - miracle enough in itself but I must remember to take my own advice! This poor child was sobbing her heart out, could barely speak or breathe bless her. She wouldn't say what was wrong, not to anyone - we referred her as we should, the only thing I could really say to her was that no matter how bad she felt and maybe how much worse things may or may not get there would be a time when this was a memory. when she would feel better, feel differently and that she should hang on to that.

She found me in the last week of term to tell me that I had helped her - that things were not really better as such but she did feel better and that she has remembered what I said.

    nearly made me cry!

so I am trying to remember that. The end of the year always makes me think of what I have/haven't done. Can be tough but I vote we aren't too hard on ourselves Mags, do one nice thing a day at least and hang on in there

    xxxxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.
