Just wanted to share my good news, especially at this time of year when every penny counts!
I've just had my 2001 51 plate Audi A3 Tdi through its MOT without any advisories! I can't believe it!
11 years old and still a work horse my car has proven that if you pay a little more at the beginning then you'll more than likely reap the benefits later on down the line.
Anyone got a similar story?
thanks for reading

My 2002 206 has always sailed through all its MOTs, last one was at the end of August (car now sold though). Never caused me any trouble in all the years I had it, just annual service and normal maintenance stuff
Edit: same with the Fiesta I had before the 206 and which I kept until it was 11 or soNow free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
Nice work Yolina. My mum has a 206 and again she's rarely had any trouble with it in almost 7 years.
I forgot to mention that i'm coming up to the 160,000 mile mark.

My V Reg Focus TDDI passed its MOT with a £5 drop link diy repair, also a car I am picking up tomorrow Maz 323F R reg got through its mot with £100 bill including MOT cost cannot be bad!

I have a couple of french things that never give me a lot of trouble. One did fail this year on it's back brake but I changed that and it went through its retest.
The other one never failed on anything until I did a serious overhaul on it which 3 years later still isn't finished..
While I know this will be debateable to many just because they're french, if you pick a well made car built with solid parts you won't have a lot of trouble with them.0 -
I think the problem generally is that people will drive about in a car which has parts ready to "pop", either knowingly (just turn the radio up) or unknowingly through shear stupidity.
2004 Vectra, been mine 4 years.... Has never failed MOT.
Any faults I notice are always rectified within a few days, serviced by me (so I know it's been done), always hand washed (gives me chance to inspect it).
They key is simply looking after the thing properly and not ignoring the warning signs that could indicate future problems.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

My 02 Ford Focus flew through its M.O.T with flying colours. With nearly 160.000 Miles on the clock thats good going. However I do think its time for a trade in for something bigger, like a saloon.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I started a haulage company back in '91 and used to do small urgent parcels with my truly wonderful petrol Nissan Bluebird estate. It had one problem at 160,000 miles with a butterfly valve sticking, which the nice RAC man sorted with a squirt of WD40 and then it died at 203,000 miles.
I've always been manic about servicing on vans and trucks to the point of servicing earlier than the stated mileage interval, but the Bluebird was criminally neglected and she still ploughed on. Fantastic car,a bout 9 years old when she died.0 -
My old Fiat Brava sailed through her MOT last year - P-reg, 150,000 miles, had been seriously used and abused by previous owners, never had a service since it was about 4 years old, etc. Didn't even get an advisory.
Shame I wrote her off a few weeks later!0
