System Restore

I get an error message 0x81000203 when trying to use. Have tried a number of fixes to no avail.

Anyone know of a free 3rd party piece of software that I could use instead?

Thanks for reading.

Have you tried restoring in safe mode?

What is the problem you have that you want to perform a system restore for?

What operating system are you using? (Windows XP, 7, 8?)
Why did you need System Restore, diod you have a problem, if so what happened?

If 7: Click Start - Help & Support - type "Error Codes" in the Search Box, read the info, use it to find the code and what it is/does.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Download Farbar's Service Scanner from the link below and save it to your desktop.

    • Double click FSS.exe to run it (XP) or right click & choose "Run as Administrator" to run it (Vista, Win 7)
    • Check (tick) the following checkboxes
    • System Restore
    • Click Scan
    • When finished, notepad will open. Post the contents in your next reply.
The log can also be found on your desktop named FSS.txt

Download these files and save them to your desktop.

    SharedAccess.reg

    iphlpsvc.reg

After downloading, double click each one in turn. Allow/ok any prompts, then reboot.

Let me know when you've done that.

Waddler, thanks. I am getting a message stating that the file does not have a program associated to it.

What was the original problem you wanted to system restore for?

Download DDS from the link below and save it to your desktop:

    Link

After you've downloaded it and saved it to your desktop:

    • Double click DDS to run it.
    • Uncheck DDS.txt
    • Uncheck Attach.txt
    • Expand Advanced (Not Recommended) (+)
    • Expand Restore File Associations (+)
    • Check REG
    • Click Start
    • Click Yes to the prompt
When it's finished, DDS will open 1 log:
    1. DDS_Advanced_fixes.txt
Save the report to your desktop.

Copy & paste the content and post it here
