Awkward Car Situation

Apologies for my lack of technical detail, i am not in any way a cra expert but i have had a horrendous two weeks with no end of problems with my peugeot 206.
I took my car to the local garage, where I take whenever I have a problem with it. It needed a new head gasket but other than that there were no issues. They quoted me £300 plus vat for the new headgasket, skimming, a pressure test and a new timing belt. After this was fitted they started the car and it was fine, for whatever reason they turned it off, but they could not re-start the car.
They called out an auto electrician, but he couldn't fathom the reason why it would not start.
They then sent it to a peugeot garage for it to attached to their computers.
It is now currently in a fuel injection place. This fuel injection place have said that they need a code off peugeot to re-programme something on the car, when I bought the car I was only given one key and no engine code thing (sorry to be vague)
Obviously this is all going to cost an absolute fortune. I have never had any issue with the garage and trust them not to rip me off but where do I stand on this issue as when the car was handed over to them there was no issues whatsoever with the electrics, and the head gasket as much as it's an expensive job, it surely is an everyday routine job. Who would have to pay for all these tests and codes etc. Especially as they actually had it running after the head gasket was fitted. To me this seems as if the garage have cocked up somewhere along the lines.
Where do I stand as to how much I pay them? Like I said there was no issues before hand with the car and they didn't mention that there was any issues with another part of the car and there was no mention of there being anything out of the ordinary with the head gasket itself.
With it being Christmas I can't afford to be spending an absolute fortune. All help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

If its a new fault then there will be extra charges. If its something they caused then they should fix it.
Something silly like an airlock, Or taking the battery off lost the immobiliser memory.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I spoke to the garage earlier and they said it was the immobiliser, how do I know if the immobiliser was activated due a new fault or their mistake?0

You probably cannot. It started after they did the work. So thats on their side.
Try the 206 forums, See if they have had issues of the immobiliser playing up after having the battery off.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
