I can't find the post I made about making butter last December or January. I want to post a link for someone who has asked me.
I've done a search but nothing had come up.

I remembered the date, as I went out on new years eve and bought YS double cream and froze it and then everyone on here was making butter.
hope this is what you were looking for.0 -
It's been a few poorly organised days..
3rd Jan - husband bought crisps at work for 65p - WHY?!?!? He could get 6 packets for £1 at the convenience shop he drives past every day
4th Jan - hubby bought soup and a cuppa at work £1-ish he thinks, then I spent £5.25 giving the kids a low key treat lunch on last day of school hols. Also spent £4.43 at Co-op on reduced stuff from Xmas that I can use in their lunchboxes.
5th Jan - I forgot to make middle child a packed lunch when he was invited on a trip today so had to buy him a few bits at local shop, plus dishwasher tablets £6.26 in total.
Hubby took other two out this afternoon and I suspect spent around £5 on treats etc.. will have to find out exactly.
So.. £74.84 in total for 5 days not including what hubby might have spent. Really need to reign it right in as spending at this rate will not come in on budget at the end of the month. Hopefully being back at school/work next week will have a positive effect; I eat for free at work which is a nice perk of the job!January grocery challenge £111.35/£4000 -
Hi Everyone
I was just going to check in to say that I've done my shoppping for the week and that I've updated my signature with my spend so far. But how funny it was when I read recent posts. It must be a case of great minds think alike or idiots seldom differ because part of my spend was on 6 large cartons of Extra thick double cream 3.6 ltres with the idea that i could make butter with it as I'd remembered reading a suggestion about this last year. I found a description of how to make it on the internet and I soudsas thoughthismuch cream could make 3 lbs of butter. Wow! 3 lbs of butter for 18p. Hope it works.
So far so good only £18.01 spent on groceries so far. However, I could have managed with what I have in the house until the middle of next week but I was having shopping withdrawal symptoms. Does anyone else feel deprived if they haven't been shopping for a whole week.
I'll let you all know how much butter I managed to get when I make it tomorrow.:AWonderfulLife:A0 -

Sooo doing the grocery challenge and reading posts on the forums is keeping my mind off things and stopping me from totally cracking up and to top it off its my 30th birthday on tuesday! my 10yr old went in the card shop today and got me some cards while I waited outside, on the positive note im going to the job centre on monday and not leaving until I find a job need to get my life back! x
Really hope you are ok. Being on here will keep you motivated and you will have loads of support. Not a pleasant situation but you are strong within yourself as you refused to give 'him' any money. Enjoy whatever time you have with your child and keep them secure in themselves no matter how hard it gets. Yes contact with your husband may be good BUT ultimately you must decide what is best for you and your offspring.
Sorry for rambling on. We had a neighbour who had to have heart surgery in Scotland as he was so ill. He returned home, did not stop smoking and started drinking heavily to the point where he was and is an alcoholic. He has lost his job, family and home. He is now a grandfather and everyone hoped that this would spur him on to get clean and dry but to no avail.

Could I please be included in January's challenge. I would like a monthly budget of £400 as a starting point.
I have 'lurked' on this board for many years and have gotten into some very good habits ..... weekly meal planning is second nature to me now! :T
However my partner and I have taken the leap and he has moved in with me and my two children so the usual monthly budget is no longer realistic. I figure starting at £400 per month is doable but will aim to reduce if possible over the year. I have been keeping a tally and so far this month I have spent £137  but my cupboards and freezers had been severely run down so a large shop was required.
Really looking forward to being part of this, have spent most of this evening reading the posts; I'm so impressed by the achievements already noted.
Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend and will catch up with you soon.Sealed Pot Challenge 6 - Member 1938

Hi all,
Been busy today (it amazes me how long simple jobs like sorting odd socks and slinging ratty old undies can actually take!) but just thought I'd check in with a couple of spends. I was exceptionally naughty yesterday and went to te$co express for no reason other than I wanted chocolate, as did DS, and spent £4.46 on chocolate and C0ke zero. Also Hubby got cleaning cloths and sponges in Ald1 for £1.68 as I've ruined about 4 this week trying to clean fancy (and very sticky) bread dough off all my bowls, surfaces and the mixer bits.
Did the top up shop in Ald1 today too and spent £20.97. Got 2 cheese board thingies in that too (£4.75 for the both) - cheese will freeze won't it? Not that I think cheese can really go off - it's already gone off milk!Only cat litter to get now.
So I now have all but the fresh bits (fruit, milk, yogurts, etc) to keep us in meals until the 27th Jan - most are quickies using bits of freezer shrapnel or have been made and frozen. Oh, I could really use a week off at the start of every month to get organised! :rotfl:
Signature has been updated. Hope you're all going well, it's lovely to read how being on the boards helps people in some way to deal with all the cr*p that life deposits on them.
Big hugs,
Vicky

For those who shop online do you think it's worth it? I have a £12 off a £60 spend online for sainsburys, which sounds great but once on the website i couldn't really think of what to order, other than a few bits i need, i did look at bulk buying tins that honestly we don't really need at the mo, and i like to pick my fruit and veg myself as i'm a bit fussy, also i have healthy start vouchers which i can use instore but not online which is a bit rubbbish. But £12 is a good amount to have off a spend, and i feel a bit silly if i don't use it, HELP.
