Royal Mail delivery/sorting office - phone number?

I've been told by RM on the general enquiries 0845 number that it's now impossible to speak to a sorting/delivery office.

I'm waiting for a delivery of flowers which will be dead before RM decide to deliver them. If they're sat at the office just because they cannot be bothered to send them out on the round then I'd rather pick them up myself.

Does anyone know if there are some numbers knocking around that people have managed to get via unofficial means?

Is there anything to indicate that they might be at the sorting office (red card through the door, etc)? If so, I'd be tempted to take a couple of forms of ID and head down to the sorting office to ask. Mind you, I only live 5 minutes away from our sorting office so wouldn't be too worried if it turned out to be a wasted journey.

Have you called the florist and asked them to follow it up from their end to find out where they are? If they're guaranteed to last 7 days and turn up 3 days late then I'd hope that they'd send another bunch as a gesture of goodwill if their best days are behind them by the time they arrive.
  • No, there's no card - but my post has been irregular for about a week, the business sending the flowers say they've had no problems with any other delivery, and I'm told by a local 'in the know' that the sorting office is very understaffed.

They're not sent by a florist as such; it's a small business specialising in a certain type of flower. I've used them many times before and not had a problem.
This will be the second lot of flowers, as the first lot turned up five days after posting and they were well in bloom and turned brown and dead within about 12 hours. This second lot were sent as a replacement for the first.

The company have to send them out with normal first class - due to their location they can't do a 'guaranteed' service with RM.

Hmm - as they're pretty time-sensitive I think I'd be hopping in the car and heading to the sorting office to ask if they can shed any light on this. Hopefully you're not too far away from yours?

Unfortunately I can't drive. Plus the sorting office shuts at midday. So, I guess the question is: do I set off tomorrow morning and spend a fiver on a taxi to the sorting office? Probably not, to be honest.

I feel bad for the company though, plus there's always that feeling that they might think I'm lying to get free flowers!

It does, yes. But I order the flowers at this time of year, every year for a birthday and not had a problem before.
I've done a seach and there's nothing (I do tend to use Google before posting on here :D)

most delivery offices extend their opening hours in december, ours is open 6.30am to 7.30pm now, but if the 1st delivery has not been attempted yet then it'll be hard to locate them "if" they are in the office,
if you know a neighbour who will be in, leave a note to take them there

    Hi,

are any of these numbers any help, if so, keep a note of it for future use.

You might find a cheaper alternative number on Sayno.
