audio ripping software

Options
Hi,

I want to rip audio from a dvd and convert it into mp3's. After googling what I want it would seem that the software exisits via downloading from American sites. I don't want to download the software from any site ( after having my cc fraudulently used via an American site ) Does the software exist in the country and if so where can i buy it ?

TIA

  • There are stacks of ways to do this. One such way is to use something like DVDDecrypter to split the DVD into audio and video. You'll get the entire film soundtrack as a VBR MP3. You can then use any good sound editor to grab the sections you need.

    Hi Browntoa
I don't think that Audacity will do the job on it's own.
As JonnyThunder suggests, you need to extract the audio from VOB files using some other program.
Then you can use Audacity to edit the parts of the soundtrack that you wish to keep eg songs from a musical.
    There's a link here:-http://www.area450.com/softwaremods/dvdtoaudiocd.html

This task is a doddle with linux :-http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-rip-dvd-audio-to-mp3-or-ogg.html

ps It looks like the link posted by alanclose will do the job.

Audacity would be able to record whatever the computer is playing through the Wave output, but that would making sure nothing else makes any noises!

I also think that when you record the Wave output in Audacity and export it as an MP3, the programme converts it to mono. That's the message I got when a recorded the audio from a YouTube video the other day.

It's still an great programme, though.
