Record from VHS to Sky?!

Can anyone advise whether I can record material from VHS to a Sky+ HD box?
I have a number of old videos I'd like to have available to view without the need to set up a permanent VCR.
Thanks!

No, you can only record from the dish.

    Have them copied to DVD.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Ok, thanks for the replies chaps - I have got a macrovision-circumventing contraption so can copy anything from VHS to DVD, but was hoping to avoid even using a DVD player. Back to the drawing board! :o)

You could copy them onto your PC and then stream them to your TV, but is it really worth it?

Of course it's worth as much effort as the OP wants to put in, considering the rarity, uniqueness etc of whatever's on the tape....

Considering that the OP said they couldn't be bothered connecting a DVD player, then clearly it's not worth much effort at all...

Actually, I didn't say I "couldn't be bothered" at all. What I want to avoid is having a permanently connected VCR or DVD and, in particular, the need to use cassettes or DVDs.
What I was hoping for was the ability to transfer a small number of select recordings onto my Sky box for easy viewing at any time. Sadly, this appears to be impossible.

Convert them onto a USB stick (if your tv has a USB slot)?
