cold water but no hot water after turning the water off

hi

wondering if anyone can help Mr cheepskate out on this one.

To be a good money saver , when the bottom kitchen tap started leaking mr C thought he would fix it.
He turned the cold water off at mains supply drained both hot and cold taps(let the water run) and fixed the tap

Fantastic it all went so well for once.

He turned the cold water supply back on and it worked fine , but for some reason there is no water comming out the hot taps(any of them).

He has not touched anything else and all was fine before he got to work on the tap.

Has anyone got any ideas on what could be wrong as he is mystified
Many thanks

.

Have you got a combi boiler?

They have to have a certain amount of pressure in them first before they heat water up.

I cant remeber how much or how you do it though.

Is the power supply to the boiler on?.

Is the pilot light (assuming there is one) on?

    Is the gas supply on?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

You may have a air lock on the hot water supply .

Take a short hose from the cold water tap in the kitchen to the hot side to drive out the air lock

    OR

check that the header tank is full of water
  • Take a short hose from the cold water tap in the kitchen to the hot side for 20 seconds to drive out the air lock
