is this laptop good?

I just wanted to know if this laptop is worth the money and.good specifications

Would it play a game called Rome total war? And are there any obvious flaws to this laptop?

Thank you :)

It's a very good deal but the main concern I have is that you have a very powerful processor but they then go and use integrated graphics. To me, this doesn't make much sense.

You may be able to play the game ok but the clarity of the graphics may well suffer. You need to check the minimum requirements for the specific game.

Here's a review for you to look at

    Hope this helps.

Hey thank you for your reply Neil :)

This might be a stupid question, but, can you physically replace integrated graphics with a graphics card? And, in your opinion, do you think I'd get say an I5/I3 with a seperate graphics card for around 400?

Integrated Graphics is built on to the motherboard by default, i'm not someone who modifies laptops but i don't think you can swap out graphics cards like that on them afaik.

If you're looking for a laptop with a decent spec for that price range, i bought a HP Pavillion g6 series around 6 months ago, only trouble is i broke my own rule about going with AMD processors.

Anyway, it had Dual Integrated Radeon Graphics, 6gb RAM and i've played BF3 and Skyrim on it with no problems, it's not great in terms of build material (plastic), but it does a very good job for me and the screen is quite sturdy unlike my last Acer which cracked screen when i blew of a hot fan on the screen in a very cold room by accident

    Thanks Szam.

Would the integrated gfx card on that I7 bet better or equivalent to

"64 MB DirectX 9.0b compatible Video Card"

To be honest I might just get it, I can always reject it under DSRs if its not my cup of tea

The graphics will run Rome Total War (given i played this years ago with a Dell integrated graphics on medium to high settings, pretty shoddy laptop, too). However i wouldn't get too expectant for more graphics intense games, it will have it's limits.

I'd think ahead too, if you plan on maybe playing up to date Total War games in a few years, you'll then start to push in to the realms of wishing you'd got a laptop with better graphics capabilities.

But in short, yes, it will run R:TW and other games similarly demanding.

In answer to your question, most integrated are easily capable of what you're after in terms of direct x capability.

    Thanks Szam:)

Yeah Rome 2 is coming out next year, but I don't really want to spend 600-700 to play one game, would it be possible to get a better performing desktop at the price of the I7 as above? To he honest I'm happy playing Rome TW and Medieval2 TW, not bothered about crysis or blackops

Probably, i'll be honest though, i've not looked at desktops in about 5 years so i have no idea about price ranges and hardware, and when i have had a glance, it was for building my own PC so i only ever looked at parts, you could probably build a machine for around the same price as the laptop which would probably be better performing - i'd imagine there are some great offers out there, however i can't look at the moment as i'm glancing the forums in between calls at work and can't really be looking up PC specs and prices until later on when it goes quiet.

Someone else may be-able to help on that front however.

if games are a priority then AMD A series are better than intel as their integrated graphic are superior to intel,

but you do lose out on pure processor power - however for most people a AMD will be quick enough for everyday tasks, they only start to make a difference if you regularly do things such as ripping video, lots of photo editing etc (more serious work)

really it all depends on what your major wants are for it
