Cradle cap advice please

DS1 has cradle cap, he's five, he has used dentinox shampoo all his life but one patch of his lovely hair is now getting quite matted and I am worried that it's not going to grow properly. Also, when I have combed his hair to remove the scales some of his hair has come out.
Any advice please?
am just about to put olive oil on his scalp to see if that will help.

Yes olive oil is good and if you warm it up a little it is much more effective0 -
I too was advised to used olive oil by my Health Visitor, I found it worked better than the shampoo's and cheaper as well!!

if it's bad then leave the oil on overnight and then gently rub it off with the scabs in the morning - be careful not to rub/pick too hard as you can leave open sores0

Olive oil or Boots own brand cradle cap cream. Have been told to increase levels of omega 3/essential fatty acids and so on in the diet. Have a bit of a pick whilst it's still damp after washing.
My DS is nearly 6 and still has a scaly head. We have some nizoral shampoo but I am dubious as to whether it does any good.

olive oil rubbed in and left overnight worked great on my two, remember to leave yourself time to wash his hair in the morning, although being a boy you may get away with it my two are girls and their hair looked too greasy not to wash out.
hope it works.0 -
I find its best to wait until it goes yellow and crusty. Once that happens, soak it in olive oil and comb it all out (use something like a nit comb, IYSWIM).
Don't worry about the hair coming out, it does that. It will grow back! What the Deuce?0 -
Thank you everyone; guess olive oil is the way to go!
Will report back in a weeks time!That's Numberwang!0 -
My 8 year old son still gets cradle cap. We were advised not to use Olive Oil as it "goes off" and smells if an old bottle. We were told to use Almond Oil which doesn't go off and also has no smell.
We bought a bottle from our chemist costs less than a pound and is fantastic. Put a good quantity on the area overnight and then either brush through or wash out in the morning. Works for a good week before re-applying.0
