I agree, I'm sick of this special rate business, I had a fixed 3 year then a fixed 5 year, then was automatically put on their special rate. I logged a complaint yesterday, for not being allowed their special rate, got to wait 8 weeks for a response now.

Did you log your complaint with NRAM or the ombudsman? I'm going to complain about how they dealt with my complaint as well I sent 3 pages and I got the same letter they originally sent me.

N'RAM, got to give them chance to repond, before I take it to FOS, I should have done it a long time ago really, didn't realise how many people were in the same situation.

You won't get anywhere with them. I tried it and they couldn't even be bothered to send me a proper reply. I'm going to resend my letter to them asking for an adequate response this time. Then it's the ombudsman.

You are entitled to your opinion. However I knew about the problems with statements years ago along with many others on another forum and this was highlighted to nram years ago, so we did know and so did they.

Could I ask which other forum please? I have an interest in researching this as I believe there is another provider of (secured) loans, CCA regulated, that has been issuing non-compliant statements since October 2008.

I have had a letter off nram, I complained and they have sent me another letter saying they are looking into it and give them another month. I've got a further advance and ive heard they arent covered under this but aren't secured loans very much the same? i'm confused. Any ideas?
They have said I can goto the Fin Omb if I want, should I wait for NRam to get back to me?
I think I am right in saying that secured loans are not covered by the Consumer Credit Act. Only unsecured loans under £25,000. There is a thread for NRAM loads over 25,000.
Secured loans are covered by the CCA (subject to the limits in place at the time the loan was taken, of course!). A further advance is additional lending under the original mortgage agreement and hence is FSA regulated.

Just to point out that the amount of redress you receive is not the only saving you make here.
All very well said, and echoes what I was saying earlier in this thread. The method of redress is both the most beneficial to the consumer, and to NRAM itself in the interests of wrapping up these outstanding accounts as soon as it can.

lennonc1, you really need to stop accusing everyone who disagrees with you of working for NRAM. I'm sure any employees of theirs have enough going on in their own lives to bother posting on this forum.

As another 'special rate' monkey I too would be interested to learn if the pushing gets anyone anywhere.

I sent off an email saying I wanted redress paid by cheque, don't agree to amended terms, etc. Got a letter back saying "we've taken legal advice, it wont be a cheque, reduced balance means reduced term, etc".

Not that bothered tbh but worth a shot anyway.

I call up at 9am every morning to check my balance. Still no reduction in balance though.
