New phone line for elderly relative

My Wife's uncle is 87 and has just moved to a groundfloor flat. He has lived 55 years on his own and has had little to do with anyone. He needs more care and we would like him to have a careline service which means having a phone line which works. There is a phone point in the flat but he will have no use for a phone (or any other services) himself other to allow the careline to make contact with the care team responders.
All the advice I can find is for people who want phone / broadband deals and all we want is an active phone line. Has anyone any advice to offer in this minimalist approach. Your help would be much appreciated. Regards Richard

There's:
http://www.bt.com/includingyou/other-products-services-bt-basic.html
though I don't know if he would qualify, or it would be appropriate.Stompa0 -
If he doesn't qualify for BT Basic, use the guide on the main site to find the cheapest deal for line rental and a minimum call package.
Don't consider BT Basic if he is likely to exceed the inclusive calls quota, as it then becomes very expensive.
And if using BT, get him on the Priority Fault Repair register. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I'd be asking local social work/servicesSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0
