Reliable airport taxi service

Hi,

Please could somebody recommend a reliable and reasonably priced taxi service that can take me from my house to Gatwick airport and do the return journey a few days later?

I visited my gf in Northern Ireland this weekend and the service I used got me to the airport on time but failed to turn up to pick me up when I came back. The cheeky beggars have been harassing me with phone calls for the last two days to try and intimidate me into paying (which hasn't worked - next time try turning up!). Standing around waiting for an hour and a half for your ride home while you're starting to get a cold is not fun.

In the end I had to use the taxi service at Gatwick - not cheap but I was feeling so ill at that point I didn't care who took me home! Very polite and good service from them though!

So I'd like some recommendations based on your own personal experience of having used them. I'd like someone who can find the right terminal and will wait for me with a big sign with my name on it, preferably near the exit I'll be coming out of. Someone who turns up on time would be nice too! lol

Thanks

- G

I use Roadrunners (click here) at Gatwick. they don't hold a sign up, they text you when they see your flight has landed, with your taxi's number plate. Then you walk out the door and into your waiting cab. I find it really quick and easy. Coupled with the fact they're nearly always the cheapest.

If you want someone who holds a sign up, try totally airports (click here), although I've only used them once, so limited experience, they were on time.
  • If you're not too worried about cost and are going for reliability and for service, I'd suggest Addison Lee, here - http://www.addisonlee.com/passengers/airport-transfers

I've never had a negative experience with them, though others may be able to offer a better insight?
I love adventures. Unfortunately, I don't get to go on them nearly enough. My simple solution? - To indulge in the digital artefacts of the adventures of others. Feel free to indulge in them with me.

I'm local, I use Roadrunners too.
  • All,

Thanks for the advice. I used Totally Airports as Roadrunners didn't have my town listed for picking up from for some reason. Anyway, TA got me there and back without any issues, so can't say fairer than that.

    Thanks
