Hi. My girlfriend has been moaning that I snore every night! On my quest to keep the peace, I am researching different methods to resovle the snooring. There seems to be several makes of throat spray and nasal strips available, does anyone out there have any experience of these products and whether they truly work or are just expensive gimmicks?
Many thanks for any input or advice in this area.

Unfortunately there are many different reasons why someone snores, so what works for someone, may not work for someone else.
My dh tried the anti snore spray, then eventually he went to the doctors, he gave him some spray, but that didn't work. So he referred him to hospital - his snoring was life threatening, several times I seriously thought about putting a pillow over his head and pushing down hard!
They looked down his throat, and then booked him an appointment at day surgery, where they put him to sleep and put a camera down his throat to see where the snoring was coming from. It turns out his jaw isn't in the right place and his tongue slips down his throat. Then they made a cast of his mouth and made him a device to sleep in. It is like a top and bottom gum shield, joined together. It makes his bottom jaw come forward enough to prevent him snoring. When he has it in, you can't see it. The only problem is that the NHS will only fund one per person in this area, so when it wears out, he has to see his dentist and get one through him! I dread to think how much it will cost.
This may help you to find out what is the cause of your snoring.

I tried those Snoreeze things. They're like a film of minty gel that you put on the roof of your mouth when you go to sleep. As it dissolves it keeps your throat lubricated.
According to OH they do work and my snoring was much reduced. It took a couple of nights to get used to but it's not unpleasant. I got them from Asda, I think they were a couple of quid for 14. Worth a try at that price.0 -
My husband stopped snoring when he stopped smoking! However, he started smoking again, so he still snores!

I asked the pharmicist about snoring aids and medicines etc --- cos my husband snores like a train and he smiled and said if any of them worked he would have been taking them for years as his snoring drives his wife to the spare bed !!!! However since my OH has lost over a stone and a half his snoring has improved SOOOOOO MUCH0
