You are not required to claim ESA, unless you cannot fulfill the obligations JSA requires you to do.
Even if JSA staff think you should.
It is likely possible to get your jobseekers agreement modified to take into account your disabilities, if you have problems that mean you have limitations on your work, as long as these do not mean that it is unlikely you will be able to seek work exceeding 16 hours.0 -
You get sactioned on JSA for not turning up to interviews, or for not agreeing with your advisor to do things. Basically go to any appointments you have, and talk to your advisor, if they ask you to do something either agree without question or if you have concerns about what they are asking you to do voice your concerns and your reasons, have a chat about whether they agree with you or can offer an alternative...if not you will have to back down and agree to do it.
If you do get sacntioned on JSA you can close your claim and backdate a claim for ESA - but will need sicknotes backdated from the 8th day of your ESA claim, so you should consult your doctor and check that they can give sicknotes if you require them in the future, and check that they would back date them a couple of weeks if required.0 -
