2011 Census - Rise in foreign-born residents

Now that these figures have been published we will have to tighten our belts even more so. Some very difficult decisions are going to have to be made.

... which won't happen as govt. has no control on EU migration.

The largest immigration appears to have been to the region (London) which is the biggest net contributor to the tax pot, indeed one of very few net contributors to the tax pot. That implies that immigration could require belt loosening.

Why it has taken 2 full years to release the information one can only speculate.

The figures do not include those arriving since 2011.

The figures do not include illegal immigrants.

It is highly likely that a proportion of foreign nationals didn't bother to fill in the census forms.

You have to take the word; "official" figures with a big pinch of salt, the Government don't really have a clue how many are here.

And despite all this the figures show a 7% rise in population solely attributed to immigration.

37% in London not uk born?! And this excludes any second generation immigrants. I am not against this but would argue that it is far outside any historical precedent.
    I think....

I can recall a speech by Enoch Powell in 1968 warning his country that this was happening and of himself showing signs of distress during the speech.

There is a country in Europe which enjoyed such immigration but they all settled in one area and eventually ejected all the original nationals and seceded to form a new country, Kosovo. Could this be the fate awaiting London and its tax surplus?

It hasn't taken two full years as this is the 2011 census and we are now in 2012. However it always takes a long time to do the data output. If you go to the website you will see how many datasets there are and they are just the ones that are available to the public. It isn't a conspiracy.
