I don't know if this was just my situation but i left in a hurry (long story), i took only the kids and my clothes. In the divorce settlement i got 3k from the sale of the house which he made 19k profit. This was because i got legal aid and anything over that would have gone to them, if i had known then what i know now, i would have planned it much better, and most importantly seen a solicitor.

i used legal aid when i got divorced but got the full 50% that i was entitled to, i was working but not earning enough to pay legal fees. it was only about 3 years ago

I divorced my ex three years ago left him with the house and contents and took our two girls. It was nice to be single but now I am 22k in debt, he has a house worth over 100k and I got 7k in a quickie divorce settlement.

Get a solicitor, especially a woman for some reason female solicitors are vicious in divorce settlements and follow there advice. I wanted to keep everything nice and didn't listen to mine - me and my ex get on so well but he doesnt pay the bills!

Good luck and all the best with your future.
