    Download TFC by Old Timer from the link below & save it to your desktop.

    LINK
    • Save any unsaved work. TFC will close all open application windows.
    • Double-click TFC.exe to run the program.
    • Click the Start button in the bottom left of TFC
    • If prompted, click "Yes" to reboot.
    Note: Save your work. Your recycle bin will be emptied. TFC will automatically close any open programs, let it run uninterrupted. It should not take longer than a couple of minutes , and may only take a few seconds. Only if needed will you be prompted to reboot.


    After reboot:


    Download AdwCleaner from the link below & save it to your desktop.

    LINK
    • Double click AdwCleaner.exe to run it.
    • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
    • Click Delete.
    • Click ok to the prompt.
    • Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A logfile will open after the restart.
    • Post the contents of the logfile with your next reply.
    • You can also find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[s1].txt.

    Thanks Waddler I've run those and the Adware S1 report is above. Does that look better now? Also just wondering what should be set in my Windows Security Centre - I've got Firewall as Not Monitored, Automatic Updates as OFF and Virus Protection as ON (looks like avast).

    Personally I have Windows updates set to download automatically but let me install. It's personal preference - so long as you do install the security updates as they are released. If you're not using a third party firewall I would have security center monitor the windows one for if it's turned off - although it's not so much of a problem if you connect with a router and don't have a home network.

    Thanks very much, uninstalled and tried to follow the link but it didn't work so I just went to the update tab and clicked the latest update (hope that was ok).

    one last thing you may wish to consider, move some of your data (pics, music, etc) from your C: drive to the D: drive, give the windows install a bit more room to breathe ;)
