I don't think you can, although you can edit your first post and delete the writing and just put 'deleted' or something. But you can't delete everybody's replies.
  • I think you can request a thread be deleted, or just edit the bits out you want to remove.

I'm assuming you're talking about the stepson thread? To be honest I don't see why it should be deleted. I understand you're upset about the latest comments from one poster but that's no reason to delete a whole thread which may be useful to others on a similar situation.

You could always report that one post to the mods and see if they delete it. Or you can just ignore it. Much worse gets said on here.

I only really wanted advise about the housing issue and now I'm getting unpleasant comments. Now I've had the advice I wanted I just want to delete it so that I don't receive any more comments of that sort. I went into to detail about my reasons for thinking there may be problems in the future because I thought it would give people a better understanding of why I thought that may be the case.

You could just not read the thread anymore and let it die a natural death. No need to have it deleted.

Only admin can delete a thread but you could ask the relevant board guide to lock the thread and it will sink down the board.

Yeah that's what tends to happen on here these days sadly.

But it's not fair on people who spend time helping you to just have their comments deleted. Locking it is a better idea but if you're going to get upset every time someone makes a nasty comment then MSE is probably not the place for you. It's just how forums operate I'm afraid.

Yes you're right it isn't the place for me so I will leave. I wouldn't want anyone else in a similar position to read those comments and think that, that is acceptable. Thank you

Don`t leave just because of one comment.
Report the post and maybe the mods will remove it if you give a good enough reason.
