Wages going in to the bank

Does anyone know what time they're supposed to go in by? I woke up at 4:30 and decided to check but there's nothing gone in. I'm supposed to get my first wage from M&S today and I've checked my online payslip and it's dated today with the correct amount so should have gone in. Yet it's 6am and nothing. :(

I assume it's a BACS payment, unless anyone can tell me differently. I'm also with Natwest.

If it doesn't go in today, I'll see HR later but I'm not sure what they'll be able to do.

My wages always used to show before 9am when they were going into NW, and immediately at midnight when the business banking was with them.

I assume they bank with HSBC, so it may be worth phoning Natwest to ask them, alternatively, if StClair is on, he may be able to help you, as he works for Natwest.

Mine are usually in the night before but not sure when they need to be. Are the in now? Maybe a payroll issue if it's your first pay. If its not in by 9am give payroll a call.

What's Natwest got to do with HSBC?
  • The OP said they banked with Natwest so their own bank is the one to call (rather than HSBC which is believed to be the bank of their employer)

My employee handbook states that my monthly salary will be paid "On or before the date printed on your pay slip". Its typically paid before the date, but sometimes it can be in the afternoon on the date stated.

It's caught a few people out when they thought it was going to be the same date every month and then the next month it was later (but still before the official date) and their DDs bounced.

I meant it going between two different banks.

Would normally be in by midnight that day, it can be paid in the afternoon but that's unusual

I worked for M&S for a few years a while ago. I had my wages paid into my Natwest acc back then too, however, I always thought permanent contracts were paid on the 10th of each month? Whereas temp contracts got paid fortnightly. Anyways, my money would always be in on the 10th.

They did at one point give me an incorrect amount, I talked to HR (in my store) and they sorted it. So contact your HR and should be able to sort it

Nope they're still not in. Will give HR a call in a few minutes to see what's going on. I know when the last lot of christmas temps started they were paid cash to start with, though it does say 'transfer' next to payment method on the payslip.

Has anyone had this happen before? I'm really hoping they can sort it before Thursday or I won't be able to get in to work. Nor will anyone be getting any presents if I don't get paid soon! :o

What you need to do is talk to HR in your store and they will sort it out for you.

Temps get paid weekly now. Perm staff still get paid on the 10th of the month though.
