Advice pls

Hi All,

Been told today that the company that I've worked for 24yrs has issued a 30day consultation process for the potential closure and this will be completed by jan 24th all employees have been notified and placed at risk of Redundancy as a result.

So I'm in limbo until the end of Jan, but things look like that the place will then probably stay open for a further couple of months at best.

Based on my age now of 41 and I've worked there for 24 years how much am I due in redundancy ? I've been checking and it say it goes up if over 41, so as I'm 42 in march 3013, would I get the higher level ? Or would I have to have and go past my birthday in march to get the higher level ?

I've already had 2 company's which are competitors approach me, I've been told that I'm not aloud from a compliance perspective to enter into talks as this could affect my pay out, is that correct? I still need to get another job at the end of this but not at the expense of losing 24yrs redundancy.

Massive thanks in advance for any help.....

They should be outlining the payouts during consultancy.

The higher level statutory is only for the full years over 41 so if you hit 42 an extra 1/2 weeks capped pay, £215 unless they are paying enhanced.

    what compliance? Who told you?

If they will only pay statutory, it may be less than you'd think.

Nothing to stop you talking to whoever you like - but if you accept a new job before you're made redundant they could try to avoid paying it.
